Culture in the world

1.-United States:

International day of women.

The celebration of the history of Women in the United States began in 1978 as "Week of Women's History" in Sonoma County, California, choosing the week of March 8 (known as the International Day of Women since 1911).
In 1987, Congress expanded the celebration throughout the Month of March, highlighting the contributions of women in historical events of the United States.

2.-United kingdom:

St George's day.

St. George is the patron saint of England. A history that goes back to the sixth century says that Saint George rescued a women who was about to be devoured by a dragon. On behalf of the saint was invoked by the soldiers who fought under the protection of the emblem with the red cross of St. George horizontal in the Hundred Years War (1338-1453).

3.-Canada:

Islander day.

Islander Day is a holiday in the province of Prince Edward Island on the third Monday of February. It gives people the chance to have a day off to relax or to take a short winter break.

4.-Australia:

Anzac day.

ANZAC Day is probably Australia's most important national day. It marks the anniversary of the first major military action fought by Australian and New Zealand forces during the First World War.

5.-Ireland:

St Patick's day.

The Irish have observed this day as a religious holiday for over a thousand years. On St. Patrick's Day, which falls during the Christian season of Lent, Irish families would traditionally attend church in the morning and celebrate in the afternoon.

6.- New Zealand:

Waitangi day.

Waitangi Day is a public holiday held on 6 February every year to commemorate the signing of New Zealand's founding document the Treaty of Waitangi in 1840.

7.-Jamaica:


Jamaica Carnival:

Jamaica Carnival is new, was recently established in the country's culture, when in 1990, years after having participated actively in the Carnival of Trinidad and Tobago, the musician and leader of the soca band Byron Lee & the Dragonaires was proposed bring all the joy and color of the people of Jamaica Carnival.
Since then, the Jamaica Carnival has become one of the great events of the year. The big event takes place annually since 1990 and has grown considerably since then, as today is one of the most important events in the country's cultural calendar, attracting thousands of visitors each year.

8.- Gambia:


The Kanilai international cultural festival.

This festival was organized to unite the different cultures of Africa, are arranged in a sort of competition. It is done every year since 2004 in Kanilai, a city in southern Gambia.

9.-Puerto Rico:



Memorial Day.

It is the day to remember the soldiers who served their country. It is a Memorial Day originally called Decoration Day, is a day to remember those who have died in the service of their nation.

10.- South Africa:

Freedom Day.

Marks the first free elections after apartheid. Apartheid was a system of discrimination that existed in South Africa in the twentieth century, by law the people of other races, mostly black, could not vote or go to certain places or participate in events and many other things. The most notable character was Nelson Mandela who fought for equality in their country.
